“…This salvation had its beginning when it was spoken of by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us by those who heard him. At the same time, God also testified by signs and wonders, various miracles, and distributions of gifts from the Holy Spirit according to his will.”‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:3-4‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Yesterday we read through how the author reminded us that there are consequences if we choose to reject the great salvation offered to us through Christ Jesus. Today we read on about why we believe in this great salvation.

The word that really rings out is “testified”, when we look to the original Greek, the word used is συνεπιμαρτυρέω (synepimartyreō) which means to jointly testify together. It is only used once throughout the whole Bible, and that is here. It is a word that resonates with God working with us to further prove the message of salvation is real.

What I want for you to focus on is that the word indicates working together, which means we have to work with God. When we work with God, He does His part and distributes gifts and signs and wonders. But we must work with Him. Sadly, it is not as simple as waking up and one day being a super saint, it is a process of sanctification and purification leading us towards holiness that is only achieved through Him and working with Him.

So as you reflect, take note that it is your working with God that brings forth a testimony that confirms the salvation available through Christ Jesus is real. Get real with yourself today and check does your life truly testify that the message of salvation is true? If not, work with God so that He can testify through you.
