“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. And each person will not teach his fellow citizen, and each his brother or sister, saying, “Know the Lord,” because they will all know me, from the least to the greatest of them. For I will forgive their wrongdoing, and I will never again remember their sins.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8:10-12‬ ‭CSB‬‬

The author continues to build us up by reminding us of the better covenant God showed the prophet Jeremiah (31:31-34). It is through the fulfilment of this promise that we receive the promises I spoke about yesterday. The deep-rooted peace and joy that comes from being in union with God. The ability to love in the self-sacrificial way which Jesus loves us. The steadfast endurance of our faith to continue in all forms of trials and tribulations.

It is possible because we have God’s laws (or ways) embedded in us. It is all our hearts and minds are focused. We all know Him intimately, we all have that deep-rooted relationship with Him, and we know Him as our personal God. We can cry out “Abba Father” as His children. This relationship is possible because He “will never again remember their sins”. Now we understand the role of Jesus as our King-Priest; we have continual petitions before God Almighty, and the covenant offered by God is fully open to us.

Today, genuinely reflect on what consumes your mind and heart. Is it the ways of God? Or the ways of the world? If we have embraced the true Gospel of Jesus, then God’s ways will be deep-rooted in us, we will know Him intimately, and all we will live for will be the ways of God, which are holiness, justice, righteousness and life free from the burdens and sin of the world. We will look different to the world because now we are of God, not of satan.
