“Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience, he again specifies a certain day — today. He specified this speaking through David after such a long time: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” Hebrews 4:6-7 CSB
“Today if you hear his voice, DO NOT harden your hearts” I prompt you to go back and re read the devotional on Hebrews 3:7-11 where the emphasis was on the hardening of the heart. The author is a few sentences later reminding us of this very important part of a walk with God. We must not harden our hearts and we must look to be obedient to Him and His ways.
To most people the thought of walking a good life with God sounds, well, impossible and boring. However, the author is telling us that there is the eternal rest that the Lord has offered to people which was not fulfilled through the nation of Israel. This rest (which we spoke about yesterday) is still open for people to enter into as promised by God.
Personally, when I became exhausted from trying to be successful is in this life, is when I finally yielded to God and gave Him thanks for the salvation available to Him. What I will testify to you is; it is not easy BUT, the life yielded to rest in God’s presence contains infinite times more joy than the life struggling to be successful. If you are still finding yourself being thrown around in the winds – listen to God’s voice and let Him calm the storms of your life.
