“For the person who has entered his rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from his. Let us, then, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience.”‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:10-11‬ ‭CSB‬‬

When sitting on the scripture for today an interesting thought comes to mind, the word for work ἔργον (ergon) indicates business employment with which one is occupied. Or to put it simply, doing something in exchange for something of benefit. There are two thoughts to sit on. Firstly, working for your salvation and second working in this world. The latter is something which so many of us can easily fall into the trap of; working in our own efforts and man-made strategies instead of fully submitting and yielding to the superior will of God. Just like the Hebrew people in the book of Joshua, when they tried to do things in their knowledge they failed and had losses. When they consulted with God and did things His way they always had victory. Today in our lives we can struggle in trying to achieve things in a way which God did not want for us. As Christians, we are to sit back and let God be God. We are to yield to His superior will and methods trusting in faith that all things will work out for His glory.

So today, stop and analyse. In your life, in your work, in your housing, in your finances are you doing things your way? Are you looking to the ways of the world to accomplish those tasks? If you are, stop and look to the great Yahweh and try doing things His way.
