Hebrews‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭‬‬

Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death  that is, the devil

We are the children with which the author is referring too. Jesus shared the same flesh and blood as you and me have. That means He had the same weaknesses we have. He could feel pain, illness, temptation, happiness, sadness, anger etc etc. Just stop and think about that for a moment. Jesus was exactly the same flesh and blood as we are, genetically there was no difference.

He did not have an extra God gene that allowed for His life to be easier. No, He came and entered into the exact same setting with which we live. Or if you are to envision life as a video game where we are stuck on the hardest level, He turned up straight into the hardest level.

It is because He came as flesh and blood, entered straight into the hardest level of the game, that He could then conquer and overcome what was defeating us. To continue on the gaming analogy, He played the game on hard mode and conquered the final boss with which we could not conquer.

Not only did He conquer the final boss, but He eradicated the final boss forever so that we do not have to fear encountering or being defeated in our own game. That is pretty AWESOME.

Today, take hold of the knowledge that Jesus conquered for us the temptations, struggles and weaknesses which plague humanity. Because He did it in the same “level” as us, we are no longer under the power of the final boss – death and the devil. Thank you Jesus for doing what we could not!
