“Even though we are speaking this way, dearly loved friends, in your case we are confident of things that are better and that pertain to salvation. For God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you demonstrated for his name by serving the saints — and by continuing to serve them.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6:9-10‬ ‭CSB‬‬

There is an essential aspect to a Christian walk with God, the love you demonstrate to the saints. The saints in reference are those also in Christ. We must continually look to demonstrate love in action to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Sadly in today’s world, people are self-focused and ministry-focused instead of being love-focused. When loving your brothers and sisters is at the forefront of your lives we will as a body look different to the world.

Genuine love will take an interest in others, in what they are doing and looking to see how one can help further their mission. At the end of the day, Jesus said, the greatest is the one who serves. So the heart of Christ is filled with love and will naturally take an interest in and look to assist others. Furthermore, love would demonstrate an ability to say the truth (no matter how harsh or how “judging”) and an ability to receive feedback as to how one’s behaviour or actions are opposite to what the Bible tells us. Love is helping serve each other, cleaning each other’s mess, to listen to each other, and being able to humble ourselves before each other for the goal of achieving the salvation promised through Christ Jesus.

Genuine love is HARD! It requires prayer, it requires private time with Jesus, and it is impossible without Him. This love is what we are called to and we must demonstrate it amongst each other. Today reflect on whether you demonstrate genuine love to all Christians or whether you still pick and choose those who you know will repay you.
