“For the person who has entered his rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from his. Let us, then, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience.”‭‭ Hebrews‬ ‭4:10-11‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Today I am going to return to the first point I brought up yesterday. How we can work for our salvation. It is especially common in more religious systems such as Catholicism, where they believe you need to do certain things in order to receive salvation or blessings. Practices such as visiting certain shrines, set prayers or helping people will increase your likeliness to get what you want from God. Sadly this practice can easily slip into Charismatic or Spirit led movements too. How do I hear you think? Practices such as praying every morning for a certain favour, fasting in order to gain or even the reasons why you go to Bible study and or prayer meetings. One thing we have to really understand is that there is nothing we can do or will do to receive the grace and mercy of God. It is a free gift due to the sacrifice of Jesus. His precious blood paid the price and therefore, to believe anything outside of that is fundamentally idolatry because you do not believe the sacrifice of Jesus was enough.

To rest from religious works is to get the crux of understanding it is all just Jesus, there is nothing you did or ever will do to deserve the wonderful gift of restoration with God. It is our job to rest in that knowledge and then be good obedient children to our Heavenly Father.
