Hebrews‬ ‭2:10-11‬ ‭

For in bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was entirely appropriate that God — for whom and through whom all things exist — should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For the one who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters

Today we are going to start dipping our toes into the steak that the author of Hebrews is bringing us to. At the midpoint of the letter he mentions that we should all be on spiritual meat, not milk, and he will be moving towards that for the remainder of the letter.

In this portion of scripture the author is starting to allude towards the necessity of suffering as part of a Christian’s walk. Sadly, the belief that being a Christian means your life is all sing-song and rainbows is just is not true. Because we all have the same Father as Jesus and it was through suffering with which He sanctified us and was given all of the glory and honour. Therefore, it is through the suffering that will come our ways, which will allow Jesus to proudly calls us ‘brothers and sisters’.

So that thought of suffering for Christ starts to take root, reflect upon this essential understanding – that the pioneer, founder and finisher of faith was made perfect through the suffering He endured. That it was through crucifixion, being ridiculed, whipped, mocked, and rejected that He was perfected to be the One who could set us free.

Make the choice to ask God for the ability to endure the suffering that the Bible says must come to all Christians who are saved.
