Hebrews 2:8-9
For in subjecting everything to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. As it is, we do not yet see everything subjected to him. But we do see Jesus — made lower than the angels for a short time so that by God’s grace he might taste death for everyone — crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death.
We are yet to see Jesus in His full glory, because as the author of Hebrews rightly highlights, “we do not yet see everything subjected to Him”. Today’s world is very much not conformed to the will of God. As we see the confusion of the world spreading and even in some cases entering the churches, we can certainly say it is starting to look a lot like the days of Noah.
We are left waiting for the day that everything is subjected to Him, as those will be the days of peace and tranquillity, enjoying the eternal presence of God. But, as the author states, until then, we see Jesus. As those who are following and walking with God, our eyes must be fixed on what we can see.
It can be so easy to become focused on what the rest of the world is doing (not being subjected to the authority of Christ) that we lose sight of the One who is crowned with glory and honour, Jesus. This is in part why on-fire Christians or ministries can stumble and fall, because they stop looking at the One who is crowned and instead look at those who are not conformed into Jesus.
So what does this mean for us today? Take a stand and make your roots firm in the Word, knowledge and revelation of who Jesus is. As you focus on seeing Jesus you will not get pulled away into the ways of the world. Always remember the world is not yet conformed to the will of Jesus so therefore, we should not look to them. Instead always look to Jesus.
