2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Today let us reflect on a wonderful characteristic of our God, that He comforts us in our troubles. Let us firstly note that we will encounter troubles, the walk with Adonai is not going to be easy. The key take away point is that when we have those moments, we will be comforted by God, so we do not have to fear or be anxious of such moments.

In today’s world it can be very challenging to be overwhelmed with thoughts of how bills will be paid, having enough time, doing the right job and where to go, to name a few, but in the journey of building a relationship with God our faith will grow. As our faith grows we will be able to endure more and more troubles with the comfort of the Lord. This is why Jesus describes faith as a mustard seed, it starts small but with time it grows until it is the biggest in the forest.

Now, one thing we must then remember, is that we go through troubles and we receive comfort from God; it will therefore allow for us to comfort others when they go through the same troubles. This is also in part linked to freely we receive and therefore freely we give. We replicate our Father in heaven and do our part to comfort those around us who are in trouble.
