Hebrews‬ ‭1:8-9‬

“but to the Son: Your throne, God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of justice. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; this is why God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy beyond your companions.”

The author continues to reference the Word of God, to further highlight where God spoke about Jesus and to denote His splendour. When you re-read V9, you will also see an insight into the trinitarian nature of God. “…this is why God, your God, has anointed you with oil…”. The majesty and unfathomable nature of God and Jesus is being unravelled before us and today I want us to sit on two key points.

Firstly, Jesus is God as man, as confirmed and prophesied through the Old Testament and confirmed by His life, death, and resurrection. That through Him the prophecies are fulfilled. He is therefore worthy of all of our praise, worship, and adoration.

Secondly, we can clearly see what Jesus loves. He loves righteousness and hates lawlessness. Let us unpack the word righteousness as this is quite a big word and I feel it is important to know what He loves. Righteousness alludes towards integrity, virtue and uprightness in purpose, thought and action. So today take a grip of what Jesus loves and keep your eyes focused on it. One way you can do that today is to work on what Paul teaches us and take every thought captive and conform it to the mind of Christ. So today take your mind captive and bring your thoughts towards uprightness and integrity.
