Hebrews 1:2
“In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him.”
As the author goes on he is now saying that God has spoken to us and revealed Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. As the previous verse hinted at, the Old Testament is filled with various pieces that build upon each other. We are now being directed to an understanding that God has spoken to us through Jesus.
But, this time it is different. It does not look like a piece of a puzzle because Jesus is appointed the heir and lawful Owner of all things and that through Him is how everything was created. We are now enticed and directed that the Son of God is more than a piece of a puzzle, He is more than a building up on the teachings of the prophets, He is more than a new revelation of the future promise. Jesus is way, way, way more than the teachings of the Old Testament which the Jewish faith so cherished.
Our revelation of the Son is the foundation with which the universe was created. Everything was made through Jesus and without Him nothing would exist. Take this moment to ponder on how life without Jesus could even exist, then let Him take you into a journey of thanksgiving and adoration unto Him.
